Siyaj

Siyaj in arabic refers to a fenced border. At first glance when I saw this embroidered pattern it appeared somewhat like a flower, but after reading further into the symbolism behind the form I was able to see it completely differently. It shows how history and dark heritage can be told through art and tradition. The erasure of this tradition is an erasure of a part of history.
